Mexicali Chinese Baptist

Ding! Ding! Ding! That was the sound of going through the evolving gate to Mexicali. In the year 2011. I was blessed to have the opportunity to join the Short Term Mission at my Church; the Chinese Bible Mission Church of Los Angeles to Mexicali. Since then, I joined the Mission Team to go to Mexicali for 9 years.
What attracted me to join the Mission team going to Mexicali’s “Iglesia Bautista China de Mexicali”? It was how the late Pastor Karlson served God, and his passion to spread the Gospel to the Chinese people in Mexicali. His undying heart and submission to God’s calling even though he was affected by the Cancer disease. and his speech wasn't very clear due to his loss of hearing from his Cancer, yet he would summarize to us the correct attitude of serving God and gave us pointers on the visitation to the Chinese that live across the Church. I didn’t see a Pastor with cancer disease or his unclear speech. I saw a Pastor after God’s own heart.
As our Mission team goes door to door to invite them to the Children Worship, Children Bible Study, and Women fellowship program, I was reminded by this verse: Romans Chapter 10:14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? Also, the memories of my yesteryears, 49 years ago vividly appeared in front of my eyes, it was the same way, the door to door knocking that I got the invites by the people that spoke TaiShan and Cantonese to attend the local Church’s worship and the VBS program when I was young and that in my Adult years I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I praised God for His guidance that I can do the same in return to invite the people that are from my mother’s native province of China and that I can speak and understand the same dialog that they use daily so that they would feel the warm invitation and also hear God’s wonderful Good news and that they can someday become God’s Prince and Princess.
